Richard Longdon

Chief Executive

Richard Longdon received an engineering training in the defence industry then gained experience in the project management of high value engineering projects. He moved into sales and held a series of international sales and marketing positions. He joined AVEVA in 1984 and, shortly afterwards, was made marketing manager for the process products. In January 1992 he relocated to Frankfurt, where he was responsible for setting up and running the Group's German office. He returned to the UK as part of the management buyout team in 1994, taking responsibility for the Group's worldwide sales and marketing activities, before being appointed Managing Director in May 1999. He took over as Group Chief Executive in December 1999.

James Kidd

Chief Financial Officer / Executive Director

Appointed 1 January 2011, James is a Chartered Accountant and joined AVEVA in 2004. Prior to his appointment to the Board, James held several senior finance roles within the Group and was Head of Finance from 2006. He joined the Group at the time of the Tribon acquisition and played a significant part in the completion of this transaction and the subsequent integration of the acquired business. His responsibilities have included investor relations, the development of the Group’s overseas subsidiaries, standardisation of financial processes and procedures, as well as being heavily involved in the Group’s recent acquisitions. Prior to joining AVEVA James worked for both Arthur Andersen and Deloitte, serving clients in both transactional and audit engagements.

Derek Middlemas

Chief Operating Officer & Head of Enterprise Solutions

With a passion for improving project performance through the use of Information Systems, Derek joined AVEVA in 2000 to drive the expansion of the business into a broader portfolio of Engineering IT Solutions, holding a number of senior positions, including Executive Vice President (EVP) of Business Strategy where he provided leadership to the overall product and business strategy.

Derek currently leads the Enterprise Solutions (ES) business, consolidating various AVEVA companies and two key acquisitions into a single global team, with a focus on developing the Owner Operator market. ES comprises of AVEVA NET Portfolio the hub of AVEVA’s Digital Asset Strategy, our Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Enterprise Resource Management (ERM) solutions.  

Prior to joining AVEVA, Derek, a Chartered Engineer with a degree in Naval Architecture and a Masters in Project Management, spent the early part of his career involved the design, installation of floating, and fixed offshore installations, before moving into project management.  Derek worked for several large EPC firms, including Foster Wheeler and Bechtel, where he ran Regional Engineering and IT Departments, and was responsible for leading and driving forward the use of innovative engineering software on their projects.

Dave Wheeldon

Chief Technology Officer & Head of Engineering & Design Systems

Dave's responsibilities encompass all aspects of product strategy, product development and delivery of new products and product upgrades, including the revolutionary AVEVA NET platform and the world-leading 3D Plant Design Management System (PDMS). Dave is responsible for the technical direction and software engineering processes that underpin the development of AVEVA's integrated engineering IT solutions.

Dave joined AVEVA (formerly known as CADCentre) in May 1981. His early work in the company fuelled a lifelong interest in the use of computers to solve design and data management problems. He held a number of development, product management and marketing positions before assuming his current responsibilities.

Before joining CADCentre, Dave spent three years researching advanced wastewater treatment technologies after achieving a first-class degree in Environmental Chemical Engineering.

Mat Truche-Gordon

Executive Vice-President, Business Strategy and Marketing

Appointed to the AVEVA Executive in 2010, Mat provides leadership on all aspects of AVEVA’s growth strategy including strategic planning, partnerships, organisational development and acquisitions. Mat’s responsibilities also cover Marketing and brand management. He has held several management roles in AVEVA, including leading the AVEVA NET business unit and the global business development function.

Prior to joining AVEVA in 2005, Mat spent 5 years with AEA Technology Plc where he was responsible for a division delivering engineering software, Information Management Solutions, Hardware and Consultancy services to a global client base. Before embarking on sales, commercial and management roles, Mat’s early training extends from a Masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

Hilary Wright

Executive Vice-President, Human Resources and Business Services

Hilary has almost always been in the Human Resources arena, with additional operational management responsibilities. A large part of her career has been in the retail sector in both multi-site and Head Office positions. It was during this time that she qualified as a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Hilary spent five years working with a Cambridge-based software electronics company – quite a different environment from retail – which provided interest and challenge in a dynamic, growing business. She undertook both an HR and an operational position, including overseas involvement, business systems and strategy.

Hilary joined AVEVA in 2006, where her role is to ensure that the Human Resources function can effectively support business goals and acquisitions worldwide. She is also responsible for Business Services, including IT and Facilities.

Helmut Schuller

Executive Vice-President, Global Sales

With a degree in Mechanical Engineering and more than 25 years’ industry experience, Helmut has worked in the Process Plant industry in Engineering, IT and Marketing roles. Helmut spent 12 years at Intergraph as a Technical Manager before moving into a sales role focused on software solutions for the automotive industry.

In 2004 Helmut joined AVEVA as Managing Director for our Central European operations, later expanding his responsibilities to include Eastern Europe, Benelux and Nordic territories. In April 2013 Helmut joined the Executive team with responsibility for EMEA Sales.

Martyn Ward

Executive Vice-President, Head of Regional Operations

Martyn joined AVEVA in April 2014 in a new role heading up Regional Operations. His responsibilities include driving revenue and profitability growth through stronger and leaner operational practices across the business. An Applied Chemist by education, Martyn has over 20 years’ varied experience leading global commercial and operational teams. Prior to AVEVA Martyn ran the global commercial operation for a Danaher business, gaining extensive experience in new and emerging markets. Martyn’s earlier background is largely biotechnology companies, including 10 years with Thermo Fisher through a period of rapid growth. Change management and improving commercial and operational efficiency have been central to Martyn’s career, which has included a number of interim and turn-round roles in diverse industry sectors.
